Gazza: I've pulled one of these apart before and my memory says it had an SSR but my memory would appear to be unreliable on this point.
It looks like I was wrong, my apologies.

I’ve been using the Tplink Kasa power board for over a year now with my sync and niche zero with no issues. Lovely the capability of turning my machine on even when I’m away from home to preheat if I want a coffee when I get home from work, set alarms etc or simply to turn off if I forgot to in the morning

I added a new smart outlet when I got my sync a few months ago..... all going well.

I've been using a WEMO with my Profitec 500 for 7 years without any issues.
I leave the machine switch in the on position and control the power on/off to the machine via the WEMO, either manually or via the app.

A smart plug is actually likely to be less stressful to the machine than the normal mains switch.
This is because the SSR in the smart plug will most likely be a zero cross type, meaning it switches when the mains voltage is at or near the zero crossing, reducing the stress on the switched circuit.
Remember how your incandescent light globe failures were almost always immediately after switch on? This is because an incandescent light globe has a very low resistance when cold* so the current surge at switch on was enormous. If the switch happened to make at the peak of the waveform the power surge doubled. If the switch made at the zero crossing you got a soft start as the filament heated.
Obviously the element in a coffee machine has a much longer time constant so the effect is smaller but it is still there.
* The ratio of hot to cold resistance of a tungsten filament in a light globe is about 15 : 1, so a 100 W globe switched at the peak would pass almost 10 A. Needless to say sending 10 A though that very fine wire wreaked havoc. If switched at the zero crossing the filaments resistance would increase with the current so the peak is far lower.

I use a Tapo 10W smart plug on the Profitec Pro 700 and of course this is a sister machine. Works very well.

I have used one with my profile for about 4 years now and no problems. I do use a surge protection board for extra good measure.

Smart outlet safe??
Hello. I'm new here... I recently purchased an ECM Synchronika which I will receive on Wed. After investing in it, I don't want to do something that cause an early failure. I have a few questions I hope someone doesnt mind answering.
Is it safe to plug it into a smartoutlet?
If it is, at the end of the day, do I shut it off, turn off the smart outlet (programmed to turn on 35 min before I wake) then turn on the ECM? This way I shut it down normally but switch it back on after I kill power.
I don't want to turn it off by smart plug, I feel that might not be good.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
