Have a Technika Profi Technika V PID purchased last april from a local roaster that is a bit of a long drive away from me. I recently started experiencing some bad leaking out of the bottom of the machine and tried to do some diagnosis myself. I believe I've traced the issue down to a problem with the water tank, where there is a hairline crack around 20cm long, where the valve goes from the water tank to the machine
I've attached a picture here with the issue circled in red. It's hard to see in the pic, but what I think is happening is the crack is interfering with the valve making a seal. The pressure pushing back from the valve seat when inserting the tank causes a slight bow, which exacerbates the crack, causes it to open, and creates the leak. I fill the machine by removing the tank, bringing it to the sink, then placing the tank bank in the machine. It would appear this repeated mechanical action has caused a stress fracture in the tank, causing the leak.
Has anyone else seen this issue with the Technika machines? Is this a common or uncommon problem? I have currently worked around this by emptying the tank and really getting the valve flush in to the recepticle. I fill with a jug rather than taking the tank out and fingers crossed, not getting any water under the machine for now.
I am currently working under getting this addressed under warranty which is being sorted, but it's a pain as I'll have to take my machine in and leave it with them while they sort it out which is at least a day off work.
