Re: Atomic fix
Hello there,
hmmm, NEVER leave the black knob on the machine when it is not in use...
having not done that- you knob has become stuck...
The quickest way to get the knob off: place the knob in a vice- tighten and use the body to unscrew the knob. This will probably damage the bakelite wings on the edges of the knob but chances are the knob is already damaged and corroded from being left on the machine. Just get a new one.
If you dont want the easy way- you can take a plank of wood around a meter long and half an inch thick. Drill or cut a hole at one end just a fraction smaller than the diameter of the black knob- including the little wings. Use a hammer to gently tap the edge of the black knob into this hole and then use you plank like a giant lever to unscrew the knob. If the knob slips in the hole use a clamp to compress the plank hole onto the knob more...
email me if you are totally confused...
good luck.

Re: Atomic fix
I would go with teh wood :-) or at least use something that will assist in causing less damage..Originally posted by 362A3737202B312C2B24262A23232020450 link=1257234117/2#2 date=1257338563Hello there,

good luck.
I have also had it said that soaking in coffee cleaner / or another good surfactant may assist as well.
Go softly to start with... Less damage......

Re: Atomic fix
as a collector- I have my special plank ready all the time.... but if the knob is visibly damaged I just use the vice and replace the knob. In general you will find the threads will be quite corroded if it has been left on the machine for many years- and you are better off with a new one anyway...
