Re: The Piao I teapot...for coffee?

Been abit busy this weekend. REview postponed to next weekend.

    Heres A Short Overview:

It works exactly like a Abid Clever coffee dripper.

But instead of a paper filter, it uses a built in mesh.

The mesh is finer than those on bodum plungers (ill take a photo to prove it), and by pressing the button, coffee is released into the bottom chamber, stopping the brew process.

UNLIKE FRENCH PRESSES, the coffee in the bottom chamber can be rested further (say for a minute) and served after some of the grounds have settled.

The finer mesh and the fact that you can rest the coffee without worrying about overbrewing translates into a much cleaner cup compared to french presses.

The flaw is fixable with a toothpick, and more adventurous snobs would probably figure out a way to plug a hole (literally) permanently to eliminate the problem

Im guessing the "flaw" would be the fact that you have to hold down the button to brew, and for coffee, could be substantial timeframe, im guessing his fix it to stick it down.....

Looking at the vid......im not sold on the idea......well see :

    Waiting, waiting...any more on this?
What about the "small (easily fixable flaw)?

I got my hands on one today!!111

The mesh is finer than that of bodum plungers.

top container just nice for 150ml water and about 10g beans.

But it has a small (easily fixable flaw).

[edit]It has one big advantage over plungers.[/edit]
More on that in due time. Pics or maybe even videos will be up this weekend. Review pending.

    Im impressed.

Paid only $13.50 for it, and it makes MUCH CLEANER COFFEE than the bodum plunger it replaces (i broke mine).

It will really depend on what the mesh size is as to its suitability for coffee. If it is meant for tea leaves then this may be an issue. To much Sludge in the cup is not cool

    The Piao I teapot...for coffee?

Its really like the Abid Clever dripper, but it has an integrated mesh similar to those found in french presses.

The design is brilliant, and the top brewing part can be removed as it stands on its own. Even if the glass bottom part breaks, the polycarbonate brrewing part (whats important really...) will still make coffee by itself.

The big version (pictured) has a 355ml top cup, which i presume will hold about 250ml of coffee (bloom takes up space) which is about right.

The smaller one is unsuitable for coffee as it holds only 217ml in the top part...and once you factor in bloom its not going to hold enough brewing liquid.
