  • How to prepare CP coffee?

    Hi CSers

Just put my first Cold Press brew together and not sure how to prepare a coffee with the concentrate. I have read the info on ratios but not how to heat and add milk or water or whatever?

    Cheers team.

This is the one thing I like about Cold press.

You can do anything you want with it!

You can use it in ice coffee, just add cold milk and ice.
If you want an Americano add water and heat. Microwave is fine.
Normal latte add hot milk or add to milk and heat.

I even sometimes have heated straight (not diluted).

      Hey Red Zone & Bassway
I have also been lured by cold press coffee

Do any sponsors have a simple easy to use cold press system

In my research I have found a method with in-depth instructions using the Toddy Cafe

Funnily enough you can use the system to do cold press tea also

Both of you may find it interesting also

Re: How to prepare CP coffee?

          Thanks KK,

I dont think any sponser has a cold press device (Toddy, Filtron).

My thought is that it isnt popular enough for someone to stock it.

In Coffesnobs the pages for machines are broken into four price ranges with the smallest having 7 pages.
In the manual brew section there are only 2 pages - most dedicated to syphon.
I believe Javaphile once had a system that he was selling.

          Redzone,
Another way to think about cold press is, I hate to say it but like instant coffee. Use cold press like you...... I mean others, use instant. Just much, much nicer!

Inverted AeroPress will make smaller batches. Nice clean way to try CP to see if you like it.

Re: How to prepare CP coffee?

Just had a play. 45ml CP to 105ml hot water (too weak). 60ml to 90ml not that great to be honest. I need more trials obviously

Re: How to prepare CP coffee?

I think its quite important to get the coffee/water ratio on the money too otherwise the same old problem of extraction rate comes into play; either under or over extracted brew resulting...

Re: How to prepare CP coffee?

The Toddy system linked to above works very nicely for smaller batches. If larger batches are wanted I do indeed have access to the necessary filters and am willing to ship them off to where-ever if you cant source them locally.

CP season is upon us here (Although you wouldnt know it from the temps the last few days!) and Ill be brewing up some 40l or so of it here in a few days.

I want to see photos of the process of such a monstrous brew.

Im assuming you freeze it and 40L will last you all summer. Right? Or is your caffeine addiction that high that this will only last a couple of weeks? ;D
