Re: Bunn Trifecta the Clover/Syphon alternate?

Worthy of a separate topic filter media and brewed coffee I think.

I hate paper (used to brew that way in the 80s) and prefer the extra flavour, body and oils that go through cloth so a Neru sock or Syphon is my preference. Metal filters yes you can get a tiny bit of sludge in the bottom of some brews and more body again in most cases which I dont really mind either depending on the coffee.

Anywhere else have one of these apart from Cafenatics in Melbourne?

Veneziano Coffee just landed a shipment of them, so naturally, First Pour Melbourne and First Pour Brisbane to follow.

Not such a big call imo. Filter coffee isnt embraced by the masses yet. Australia is hyper-concentrated on espresso - and internationally we are respected for it, however the market is slowly shifting with the specialty coffee purveyors leading the push in to unknown territory. Until filter coffee gains wide acceptance and popularity, one style of filter over the other makes no difference to the average punter.

Some thoughts of Tim Wendelboe on the Trifecta http://timwendelboe.no/2010/10/trife...ted-aeropress/. Interesting bit toward the bottom he is replacing a Clover with an Uber Boiler and Aeropresses instead

That doesnt surprise me the least little bit. Aeropress is a great way to make coffee. No fuss, no mess - it just doesnt look as cool as a $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ clover. I actually never truly loved Clover and prefer Trifecta coffee to Clover coffee, although Ive never had the two machines side by side making the same coffee.
