Coava have also brought out a second version of the DISK with smaller holes, which should give a different cup profile as well.
I think I have the original with the bigger holes - the thinner one sounds like it gives a result similar to the original Aeropress paper filters.

In my quest to find a different coffee maker Im looking at the Kone and a Chemex, what Im after though is the glass handled Chemex with the Kone. Does anyone in Australia carry these or only the ones that Di Bella have?

If the only choice is the Di Bella one does anyone know if the Kone fits into this?

...or does anyone know if the Kone will fit into the CCD?

The Kone fits into any 6,8 or 10 cup chemex (woodneck or pitcher). It will fit into a CCD but as the CCD has a closed bottom, it does not balance that well. Another option is the larger Hario V60.

Have you checked Veneziano? I think they used to have the Chemexs.

Just for interest a few pics of some options for using the Kone. I havent tried the Grindripper but I think it might be worth a go if your desperate. The Hario 3 cup works fine on smaller bean loads and water quantities. Still need more practice on the Chemex sized quantities but getting there.

Both the larger brewers are woodneck versions, just removed for the pics.

Generally I reckon it is a great bit of kit for commercial use and for those that like a little more body in the cup than paper (yuck) gives. Less work to keep clean over the Neru sock Hario type cloth filters too.

Wondering has anyone tried one of the newer disks with the smaller holes yet?, and can give an opinion on the taste compared to the paper filters?

Well I have received my disk, and so far with only a couple of brews, each with a small amount of milk, I like the taste improvement, seems to have better body compared to the paper filters, tending towards what is good about a plunger, but a bit cleaner than a plunger.
