I'm a teacher. In my school I keep my primary class for six years . So I kept an nice old Krups espresso machine on the bench, and when one of the girls said her aunty was opening a bakery, I was able to teach her how to produce a respectable shot! That was good fun. PLease don't tell the vit!

Sadly the old girl,( the machine that is) has a seemingly unreplaceable group seal and has been replaced with a Saeco Via Venezio bouhgt 2nd hand off e***y. Goes okay, but needs a jolly good service. Holidays.

I have a vintage Quickmill Super Quick 0650 and a Hario hand grinder. The Quickmill is a tiny themo-block machine that takes up almost no desk space (it has a 18 x 20cm footprint) it has a knob to vary the pump pressure for some basic manual pressure profiling. It doesnt have a steam wand, instead it has a blind PF with a steam wand coming out of it. I dont drink milk but i did use it once and it was surprisingly effective. Some earlier models even came with a rotary pump instead of a vibe!
I also have a Handpresso Wild which I take camping and hiking. Teamed with the Hario it makes proper espresso with crema, though you need to be very precise with preheating everything and tamping perfectly, its a side channelling demon.

What's available these days in a good, 2-cup Electric Moka Pot for my office?

I can put up with the flat microwaved milk as long as there's good espresso in the bottom of it

    Love it... MCC members list
    I second aeropress
Can be a bit fiddly with all the components washing up but better than paying for the privilege of drinking bad coffee

Guys at the office would buy grounded beans, keep them in the freezer and make the daily pot of French press each morning.

Work mate intro me to the aeropress, and enjoyed it so much and the taste of fresh beans got me all excited about coffee again.

Bought a percolator. Was better than the French press but not as good as the aeropress. However it is good for many people.

Picked up a Gaggia titanium super auto for work cheap and everyone enjoyed the new machine but me because i knew something is missing.

Now I have picked up a Breville BES860 which should satisfy my coffee need at work

I ended up with a aldi capsule machine. Sits on my desk no mess no fuss and produces a good coffee. And much better than any other shite wanna be baristas dish up in my area.

Can't wait for the reusable aldi pods so I can will with better coffee
Geez, that is pretty grim. If the local baristas can't do better than an Aldi pod machine, you would be better off investing in a shotgun and engaging in some redistributive justice. Certain forms of incompetence ought to be a capital offence IMHO.

Not to go off topic, but does anyone know where i can get a electric Moka pot for work thats reliable? I have read reviews on some name brand ones however they look a little on the cheapish side. If however someone can prove me wrong please do..

    Kind regards

    Chris

Yes, they work well. The brand doesn't matter but don't go for the cheap plastic ones. Get one with a glass beaker and a metal plunger. Bodum is as good a brand as any.

The Aeropress doesn't have any more parts than a french press and is what I use for my work needs. Doesn't your office have a kitchen you can use to prepare?

An alternative is to get into cold press/cold drip which you prepare at home and just bring enough with you for the coffee or two you need at your office.

I'm thinking about picking one up since it has the fewest parts and doing Aeropress at my desk will bring a little more attention than needed to my coffee habits.

I believe I have a very effective solution here - ban milk based drinks at work and just drink espressos! With my old Gaggia and old Rocky myself and a fellow snobber produce great espressos from our home roasted beans. In a convenient kind of way the Gaggia's (or mine) poor performance at steaming milk restricts us to our beanbay espressos. Meanwhile the rest pop over the road for their $4 milk schmilk lattes and tut tut at us as we discuss the current bean or our rigs at home (coffee that is). It's an elite club ours, just 2 members and a waiting list similar to that of the MCC Members. Meanwhile the latte buyers in the outer turn their nose up at us with mutterings like "Felix and Oscar are at it again" or "they're like those 2 old guys on the balcony in the Muppets"....... and they wonder why they call this site Coffeesnobs? Beats me.....

I actually HAD one at my desk, but after so many work mates commenting and wanting to try it i bought a Kitchenaid coffee maker so i could make enough for now 12 people at 2-3 cups a day. i don't have much time now to use the Aeropress, which i ended up taking home after a few weeks of having the coffee maker. When i stop and think about it the taste from the aeropress is far superior IMO, which really cant be compared anyway...
