  • Moka Pot lovers, need some help here

hey guys, I have a Moka Pot. just have some questions:

when I was boiling it on a stove top, there was water leaking, but I could not find any visible holes...the water leaks slowly from the border of the water chamber and the top part. very slowly, one drip by another. Does it mean sth wrong with it?? Also, why sometimes it has cold coffee perked which is wierd...it is a 4-cup one, but since my husband does not drink coffee, I drink myself, therefore I put one cup of water in it..

any suggestion would be appreciated! ta

Sounds like you need a new rubber seal due to compression or coffee grinds impregnation. Plenty of info around on how to get the best out of a Mokka pot. Underfilling the water chamber can be an issue from what I have read. I fill to just below the valve and remove from the heat before I get the gush of weak watery brown liquid - works for me.

"Interesting instructional article about the moka pot" (something like that) is the title of a great thread on this board.

Yeah. Don't use minimal water & boil it dry. A good tip is to plunge the bottom part into cold water after you've got your cup worth. It stops the extracted coffee from cooking when it's off the heat.

Sounds like you might need a new seal to solve your actual problem though.

All the above is true if you have a Moka pot. If you actually have a Coffee percolator which is a type of pot used to brew coffee by continually cycling the boiling or nearly-boiling brew through the grounds using gravity until the required strength is reached, we will need to know more about what type of Percolator you have.
