  • Unkown machine - help need

My brother got it for a $1 in an op shop. Absolutely no info on the machine.
    Any ideas.

It looks like a stovetop steamer - not a bad price assuming it works

Yeah most probably a milk steamer. The ones that do both coffee and steam have 2 outlets of some sort, although there was one Italian one that did both coffee and steam through a single pipe like this. If it's able to do coffee it will have a basket inside it as per a Bialetti.

          It has a basket inside.
I have not been able to get my hands on it for a full inspection.
When I do I can photograph and describe it workings.

So it's 18/10 stainless steel from Inox in Italy. That's good, if you're gonna have a stainless stovetop it might as well be a good one. It's still a little hard to tell from the photos, but I have a feeling it just makes coffee. As I said above I have seen one in the past that has a single outlet for both coffee and steam, but I'm not sure this is one. If it's able to do both then the valve on the outlet will have two distinct positions and probably some markings to tell you which is which. Even if it is only capable of doing one thing at a time you can still use it for either. So for example if you were to brew an espresso with a Presso you could then steam some milk with this separately. Whatever it does, it looks like a steal for $1.

Not from INOX. INOX means non rusting or stainless steel in several European languages. I have seen it used on German, Swiss and Italian items including some Swiss army knives.
