My local has some kinda metallic looking fabric reusable filters. Was planning to pick one up to try when I run out of paper.

I picked up the display one to have a look and it was surprisingly rigid (down boy...). Don't know anything else about them tbh, but they tend to only stock good stuff that works... $20 or so rings a bell...

    Hi Guys,

I use a V60 for pour over and love it. I was about to buy some more paper filters but when I actually worked out the longer-term costs (in addition to environmental issues) I realised I'm probably better off with a reusable metal filter. I use 3 filters/day and at the cheapest that I could find that's still about $100/yr. Even the more expensive Able Kone is only $80. So I'm tossing up between that and a Hario Cafeor (about 1/2 the price).

What are the pros and cons? I'm ok with there being more cleaning involved with the metal filter. Is there more sediment? - I'm assuming it won't completely filter all the grounds like a paper one will.

What are the befits of the Able Kone over something like the Hario Cafeor? Want to understand why it's worth twice the price if they do the same job.

    Thanks,

    Paul
