Wacaco Nanopresso

My nanopresso only gets used when we go camping without power, which is only once, maybe twice a year, so not much use. I don't spend a lot of time on trying to achieve perfection, as its just an alternative to instant, and it doesn't have to be that great to be a big improvement there. There are 2 coffee drinkers in the family (my wife and I) so making the drinks was a bit fiddly using grounds, so yesterday I bought a nespresso pod adapter for it. now I have until easter to find a compatible pod that i'm happy with the flavour of. Should be a bit less messy and user friendly in the confines of the camper van.

I have had my replacement Nanopresso for 6 weeks. My first the handpump didn't return.
The replacement builds up pressure in the chamber for a very long time but only delivers a small amount of espresso.
I feel there is none or almost no air getting back into the tank.
advice would be greatly appreciated

Here is my workflow: Currently only using the single basket as my wife only takes about 12ml espresso in the morning.
1. Turn on kettle, dump the portafilter and baskets into the coffee cup, fill coffee cup, nanopresso tank and nanopresso pump with hot water
2. Grind beans, tamp into basket(s)
3. Pump water through nanopresso, discard and replace with more hot water
4. Assemble Nanopresso, place microwave milk frother into microwave
5. Pull shot, replace basket, pull second shot
6. Froth milk and pour
7. Cleanup.
For 1 coffee the process takes about 7 minutes. For two probably closer to 10
Noticeable improvement in taste by just preheating the coffee cups, portafilter and baskets

Hi all, thought I might voice some appreciation regarding the nanopresso.
I have been using it for about 3 months now and I am pulling amazing shots. This little unit really is a game changer in the land of mobile coffee toys!
Some advice for those looking to buy.
1. Don't grind super fine and then pack the container after tamping super hard...chances are you'll blow the seal and you won't pull a straight forward clean shot.
2. Clean the seal on the portafilter...basically pull the round seal off and wash the filter and seal so that it creates a strong seal when pushing through a shot. Do this after every 3 shots or so.
3. Get a barista kit. I tend to do short doubles however for some reason the barista kit takes this coffee toy to the next level. Maybe it's because of better pressure build up via the larger tank.
4. Pump hot water through the nanopresso with an empty container after in order to clean the portafilter.
Happy pumping!

Well, after having used it 3-5 times a day every day for the last year and a half or so, it finally broke.
The threading on the portafilter cracked and everything fell into the coffee cup.
I suspect I have been a bit excessive in my consumption
I'll see if I can source a replacement part for cheap, otherwise it is to the Flair or Robot for me it would seem.

Had a nanopresso and was working well for about two months. Loved it so much until suddenly it stopped working as well, output looked just like drip coffee instead of espresso. Not sure i would really recommend it!

Had the Nanopresso plus the Barista kit, because being limited to single shots was getting me down a little. It was ok for about a year, but began having problems with an odd and not especially nice smell.
Dismantled completely and cleaned but couldn't shake that smell. Enquired about replacement seals/o-rings....offered a slightly discounted replacement.
Thought I'd just persevere but then the damn thing broke apart on the threaded portion that holds the shower head on......well, its just about all blimmin plastic... and I'm making about 4 coffees a day
Then the Flair was released....pretty much all metal working bits apart from the (replaceable) portafilter and with replacement parts readily available!!!!
8 months later I'm so very happy with my upgrade and the only part of the Nano I've kept is the case - for travelling with my Aergrind

Have been using these for a week or two. Sometimes i get good results, sometimes i don't. Recently I have realised that sometimes the coffee does not come out in one stream but comes out as three or four drops around the intended outlet. Anyone experiencing such problems?

In my experience, Nanopresso is good but Flair is great! As far as the coffee tastes.
I find the Flair easier to use and clean up.
Agree that portability is the Nanopresso's main advantage.

The diameter of the Flair basket is probably 0.5mm larger because when I place its tamper in the Nanopresso basket it can't go all the way down. This isn't an issue because when there's ground coffee in the basket it won't go all the way down anyway, and it fits nicely in the upper part of the basket and this is what's relevant for tamping.
I haven't done a direct comparison between the Nanopresso (which I just received a few days ago) and the Flair, so it's a little bit early to say. The Nanopresso is a little easier to use because there's no need to submerge any of its parts in boiling water. It's also a lot more compact and light, which is important for me as I bought it planning for it to serve as a replacement for my aging-but-still-working Handpresso (my early impression is that it can). The Flair is now at my mother's, so not sure when I'll do a direct comparison.

Surprised to see that the flair has the same size portafilter as the nanopresso, thought it would be a little bigger.
I know the 'pro' version just released has a 46mm portafilter.
How do you find the nanopresso vs the flair anyway?

I'm not interested in the barista kit because I don't drink doubles, but I was considering it for the tamper. To my delight I discovered that my Espresso Flair 39mm tamper is a perfect fit for the Nanopresso (it even touches the edges if the basket is empty). It's about the same price as the barista kit, but it's made of stainless steel so it's expected that it costs more than the plastic tamper included with that kit.Originally posted by kingaboy View PostI havethe nanopresso, barista kit and nespresso adapter and love it for use at work and camping. What I am finding though is it seems to be hard to buy individual parts. With the barista kit you get a nice little tamper tool. I lost mine and can't seem to get one. I emailed wacaco and they advised they don't have the past but will 'look around' for one. I haven't heard back since. Hugo if you're still around can you help out please. This is the only negative I find with the product after 6months of use.

I used a handpresso on my frequent work trips for many years. Was very happy with it
Now using a nanopresso and enjoying better coffee... I'm drinking one right now!
I'm guessing I've made about 100 coffees with it. Have no problems with the seals. Only time I had leakage was when I took out the pressure valve, ground too fine and it choked.
The Flair Espresso is even better. But more expensive and not as compact.
