great DIY, but you can get drip coffee makers for around $55 including shipping on eBay. Just search cold drip coffee.
The unfortunate thing about DIYs these days, is that somewhere in the world, slave labor and mass production has the item cheaper than you can DIY in most cases ... Pity it takes away from innovation .. but great idea none the less.

Ah of course - using only ice makes perfect sense. It was going a bit quick last night but this morning I see it stopped before it was finished. Not enough pressure from more water I guess.

The top container is just a salad bowl with small holes drilled into the bottom, then sticky tape of the holes, then pin pricks into sticky tape.

What is the container you have used for the water ??

I have found that if you fill it with ice instead of water then the flow pretty well sorts itself out.

DIY Cold Drip Party Size for $37

So I went to Kmart today and bought all the stuff needed to make my new cold drip coffee maker. Quite pleased with the result, especially given the price tag - $37 all up. Could make over 5 litres in one go, so enough for a few people on a hot day! Hardest part was getting the flow rate right.
