    Delter press plunge issues

When I pull the plunger up there is now no effort required to push the water through and the plunger basically just falls back down. If I pull it back up it sucks water through the beans and the water in the chamber ends up with coffee in it.

It almost is like the chamber is too large for the plunger now.

Has anyone had these issues before with the Delter?
Hi Fergy, I have had that exact issue and emailed Alternative Brewing and they were very helpful and sent out a new Y ring which fixed my issue straight away. But now 3 month later I have the same issue again. I do find twisting can help but not all the time... it is very frustrating. I feel the issue may be with the outer container warping and as the seals get some use they fail to hold properly. I also make sure not to clean the cylinder or any of the seals with anything abrasive as I feel any small scratches may cause this exact issue.

I really hope Delter come up with a fix or replacement seal in the future.

So I emailed Delter and they came back really quickly with the following:

Thanks for the email - can you confirm you have been cleaning the Delter out after use? Usually some mild detergent and drying out (remove plunger from chamber) solves it.

We have made an adjustment to the Y-Seal at the factory to improve the wall compression, which will solve in the long term. If you need another unit in the meantime, we'll be happy to send out a replacement to you. Otherwise we'll be sure to send the new seal once that's available.

      Cheers

      Regards

      Delter Coffee Team

I think I will be asking for the improved seal once available, but I have only been using detergent every couple of days so might give it a soak tonight to remove any residual coffee oils in case that is what is happening.
