I have a breville precision. It is great. Does very good coffee. Can most of the time get very close to manual brew. The timer function is also a nice little extra especially when I need to get up super early to travel for work

In the end I went Technivorm from Moccomaster. Expensive bit of kit but its great. The carafe stays hot the whole day and it produces a quality brew each time. I know its not adjustable like the one Andy sells (and with time and effort it would no doubt get more out of some beans than the Moccomaster) but these days I don't have the time to spend on fine tuning a drip machine. I don't get much time to roast....if I have time to spare I do a roast and that gets me to the coffee level I love. Cheers

Helpful thanks. Will start with that and go from there. Andy, do you have an idea of release date and pricing for the Behmor Jake? Looks like an exciting new product. I have not roasted previously but was considering buying the CBR or AB but may hold off for the Jake. I appreciate your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks, Tom.

My favourite starting point for most beans in the Brazen is:
    1.2l water, 75g of coffee, 45 seconds pre-soak, 92C brew temperature
Way, way better than all the machines that lift water to the coffee by boiling it.

You found the USA model (different machine, different voltage). AU/NZ certified one is 12 months like most appliances here.
Yes we sell them but we also use one at work and one at home at least once a day, every day of the year and the expensive "dutch one" I own sits idle on a shelf.

I've recently ordered the Precision Brewer. I wanted more control than the Moccomaster was offering, but there's really an opportunity for another manufacturer to come in and make something that rivals the Breville and looks way better.

I missed Brazen above when reading the posts. I will check them out too. Cheers
PS. Made by Behmor I see so should be well made. Sold by CS...lot cheaper than the Dutch machine ....and sold out! But should be coming in again before Xmas

Thanks good people. I like the idea of the Precision but not the guarantee (1 year - and a lot of tech including PCB's and a screen) nor where it is made (I was an early adopter of the Sunbeam Cafe series coffeemachines...). It seems from my research that the Moccomaster makes a smooth cup with the Gold Standard but its not adjustable as noted above. The Breville appears to bring out more floral notes when set to the Gold Standard setting. I have an espresso machine to play with but for my drip filter I am happy to just grind some nice coffee and set and forget (or bloom manually with the manual valve on the Moccomaster). The Moccomaster is still handmade in the Netherlands and has a 5 year manufacturer's warranty, with many people reporting service for far far longer. I like the SS walled Carafe model, and there is a dealer at Darra in South East Qld, so I might go that way I think.

    Cheers

The Moccamasters are ok as long as you don't mind not being able to adjust any variables other than grind.
