Ta. It turns out that I ordered the 53mm tamper....the 51mm was just the first one listed on their site.

Sorry to be pedantic - can't help myself. Those are digital calipers, not Vernier

Please report back your comparison with the Flair. Very interested. Hopefully it makes equally good espresso while being more portable and easier to clean.

Interesting to see this.
I bought a Picopresso (for trips away) from AlternativeBrewing (awesome service by the way, waaay better than a few companies that we deal with in the world of coffee), and was really surprised at the quality of the shot. Didn't think that type of shot was available from a hand held device.
Might have to get around to buying one and comparing

So after my whopping $19 "investment" in some Snobbery Verniers...
(I'm not building the space shuttle although these might have helped)
My random tampy thing is 52.36mm on one side, 57.72mm on the other.
STARESSO pressurised basket - 53.94mm
Anonymous unpressurised basket - 53.86mm
I'll edit the first post to call these 53mm baskets to avoid 54mm tamps getting stuck.
Note: the STARESSO basket holder is 55.5mm so I'd expect that a 54mm basket would fit in there (wish I had one to test).

Not sure the 9Barista is direct comparison at about 4 times the cost and a different beast to the gizmos that only need a kettle but the flexibility of grind, dose and basket in the STARESSO might appeal.

Barry O'Speedwagon and tompoland
You guys don't muck about, you could have waited for 338 and borrowed this one but I that might have taken some patience. (I get it and caffeine doesn't help either)
Not sure you'll like the 51mm tamp though. Might be too loose.
Bunnings is at the end of the street, I'll go grab a cheap Vernier and measure the two baskets better before I send it off to 338.

Done. Freighting today, I'll toss-in a tamp too. It's a 57.5mm tamp (might have been La Marzocco from memory) but it's handle side is also a tamp and it's about 52.5mm. I don't have a 54mm here but measured with a ruler (my verniers not here) it looks like 54mm. This one works okay though.

Me too. Worth a punt for that price. I want to see if it's a worthy contender to replace the excellent 9barista as my travel espresso maker. Thanks Andy

OK..I've ordered one of these little babies (and a 51mm tamper). A lot lighter than the Flair. Let's see how it goes.
