  • EM6910 still best value for $700

    Hi All,

I havent been here for ages and was wondering if the EM6910s are still the best value for machines around the $700 mark.

    Cheers.

Depends on what you are after I guess. As a machine with semi auto controls it is a good toy while the Silvia (debate for another thread )makes better shots (with practice).

My little Swiss made Solis with a 300ml Brass boiler does a great job too and has semi auto controls but I think they retail for a bit more than the 6910. Diamond C is the importer for these. I think these are a little over $800???

In Semi Autos for under $1k the Sunbeam does it well.

Leaves plenty of cash to allocate for the time spent getting the machine to the service centre for the inevitable repairs ;D...Sorry, had to have a dig

They are a great appliance and make a pretty good espresso, my son has one and he loves it, but I purchased my Silvia after reading all the reviews and comparisons of the two machines. I am confident Silvia will still be around and producing espresso long after the Sunbeams turn up their toes.

They had em at David Jones for $600 with a $120 DJs gift card back. I still went ahead with getting a Silvia mind you, as it seems that the Sunbeam is good when it works, but is hit and miss as to whether or not you get a reliable one.

                  Hi there

Interested in Aussie prices for the two machines (EM6910 and Silvia) because at present the Sunbeam is $NZ 600 or less with most sales (normal $800, with the Sunbeam website giving an RRP of $999), and the only place Ive seen with the Silvia was up towards the $1300 mark. I havent looked any further there, but was that one excessively overpriced, or is there more to this?

                  Cheers

Have a look at the site sponsors in the side bar. I looked the other day and both Coffee Parts and Jetblack Espresso had Silvias for under $750. I think you may have been looking at the Silvia/Rocky combo, which is the machine with a grinder (and sometimes a stainless tray) for around $1300

The prices Pukako was referring to was NZ dollars...

It is strange but I have often seen what appears to be higher mark-ups on some products in NZ. Must be duty charges etc.

we do tend to get shafted on certain products, not sure why
