when you clean it also do a descal

coffee clean at least once a month
descal at  least every 3 months
sounds like the pump bypass may be dirty

    hes in Redland Bay.

Im taking some chemical cleaner over next week and having a play and clean time- take off the shower screen, backwash and chemical clean- hasnt had this yet in 6 months of regular use.

will also test with different baskets and Im picking up some fresh beans from Di Bella to try too.

Eliminating one thing at a time, to source the problem. :-?
As Mal said ... Get ready for a good work out..

I was only just down there the other day.. Assisting another mate...

My dad was just rushed to Hospital to other day and is still under going more surgery and tests ect Now all things being = I will be taking him home Thursday ( W/Manly) and also seeing a mate or 2 down that way...

If I have an 1hr or two up my sleeve... I am happy to drop in...

    Let me know ASAP...

Was around there yesterday and my father in law tried using it and similar prob the machine went dead quiet and almost nothing came out. I adjusted grind courser but still no love asked him about cleaning hes had it about 6 months and hasnt chemically cleaned it just blind backwashed it a couple times. I backwased but still did it with course grind and very little ramp. He has is passed ground very find to try get short concentrated shots, often I saw the shot would only just drip out. Will this have effected/hurt the pump/machine??

If your in South Brisbane... Where is he ?

1: Sounds like Dirty and and any number of other issues... (PF Baskets / Crap Beans / etc etc)

2: Hate to be rude, but more User issues rather than Machine..

Did you see how it ran with the two different PF baskets with no beans ?

At some stage, treating teh machine / any machine like this will cause bigger problems and can lead to a major fail.

    How often is it cleaned?

Yea If like a few we have seen, then never and the top shower screen is full and after a few days of sitting... Cakes hard and nothing is going to shift it...

That is, until you remove and do a proper clean..

    mmmcoffee,

Next time you go back and play with the machine, I would recommend beginning with a coarser grind and working your way back to finer, rather than the other way around.

The pumps on these machines have a 5 year warranty from memory (could be 3) so theyre unlikely to break IMO as it sounds like sunbeam has confidence in them and even if it does, it should still be covered.

Will do thanks guys, hard when not ur equipment and its been set up by others, will check grind and ask about beans next time, but I know he uses supermarket beans unfortunatley.
Will run some more tests thought nxt time Im over!! Can be fun getting used to peoples different machines and grinders huh.

Maybe you should try a blank shot with both the pressurised (to add resitance) and non-pressurised filter baskets. If nothing comes out using the pressurised baskets then something is probably wrong.
