The KG100 goes great, its been a good upgrade from the chopping thing i used to have. i will get a rocky at some stage but need to save again.

dialing the grinder will come when i get my basket and tamp.

steve, your right mate, there is no substitute for a quality grinder. Azz that would be the next thing worth saving up for and purchasing, the Rocky/Silvia combo is a very popular combo here and for good reason!

But for the money a Maazzar Mini or Compak is more $$ but also a better grinder. You will notice the difference from the grinder you have now.

The journey continues and so does upgadeitis!! :-? Enjoy it!

Azz. Looks like its made for that corner of your bench!

If you think it might help I would gladly lend you my EM0450. Dont know if its better or worse than the delonghi but you are welcome to it. Its gathering dust at the mo, and has only ground about 1kg or less of beans in its ratehr short life...

You need a good grinder now.
I had the KG100 too and donated it to the sis-in-law, I then replaced it with a Rocky.

Agreed mmmcoffee - I just used about 200g of a 250g bag dialling in my grinder. Plus about half of my recent guatemala roast.

Thankfully most of the shots were good enough to taste ok in milk, and the last few purrfect on their own... :P tasty!!

As the age old saying says... "practice makes perfect" it took me a little while a 500+gm of beans to dial in my machines and then time to get dose, ramp and temp right. Just keep practicing and working on these 3 things. Good luck!!

mmmcoffee, my miss silvia is going good working well but i can not pull a good shot yet because of the tamping problem, my pm tamp and basket should be arriving soon.

just receaved my delivery from coffee parts and with the blind pf cup back flushed her. also fitted new group head seal. and i got a new milk jug that will help with the latte art.

Azz, hows the new machine going?? Hows your shots traveling? getting used to the machine? youll grow more in love with it as you get used to it. The Pullman tamper and new baskets will make a difference too.

    Enjoy the journey ;D

Both look pretty good, although from the pics I cant tell what the volume is. I would say the second more mottled one was probably at a hotter temperature, thats how it works on my machine.

In the end, its how it tastes in your mouth that is the most important judgement.

I got the tamper with my Rancilio setup..  Makes a difference Im sure!  Now how to actually use it..  Im going to take a video of my attempts at some point and upload it to Youtube, hoping someone can provide useful suggestions.

Pictures of my two attempts at coffee have been uploaded.
