Man, how many times do you have to turn that steam knob around??

    Hi Justin,

Firstly, if you find that the double basket results in gushers, its worthwhile getting another double basket. Theyre not expensive.

I think that theres a lot of good news for you: if you liked that shot, things are only going to get better! It looked to me like your shot started off fairly dark and perhaps a tad low on crema. It seemed to lighten up and become watery very quickly. My guess would be that the coffee is stale. If that is the case, you will really enjoy your shots when you get some fresh coffee.

Time-wise, 28 seconds is actually fine, but when youre starting out, you might like to experiment with cutting your shots shorter at around 20 seconds, maintaining the same flow rate as you otherwise would (ie. cut the shots short). Its just easier to make something pleasant.

    Cheers,

    Luca

    Simonelli Oscar HX video

I thought I would start a new thread.  The old thread was advice on buying etc and now I have the beast on my bench I will start giving some feedback albeit from the taste buds of a newbie.

Here is one of my better shots so far done with the single basket(double basket is a gusher)

The shot went for about 28 seconds which I know is too long but I wasnt timing it.  Watching the video back you can see it going pale for those last two seconds so if I wasnt busy looking at the camera I might have noticed that and stopped the shot.

    Give me your opinions.
