Definitely get your hands on a silvia steam wand - it makes a MASSIVE difference. Di Bartoli stock them with the appropriate brass connector to ensure you dont need to do the sanding specified in the thread i showed above.
I started off using the brass connector, but you will find it makes getting the water tank out very difficult. I have now reverted to using the original gaggia connector to connect the silvia wand.
Otherwise the process is going to require many many many litres of milk and a fair bit of patience - but it will happen.
Im also in Sydney, and while not a master, am willing to help if need be. Shoot me a pm if you need any more help
