  • How much Espresso Clean for EM6910?

I just read in another thread that its possible to use too much Espresso Clean when backflushing some machines.

I use one level scoop (teaspoon) every three weeks. How does that fit with what the experts are using :-?

Is the powder likely to act differently to the Sunbeam tablets?

    Thanks AM in advance

    Heeeee Well it could imply;

1: Too much cleaning product... This will equal lots of FOAM and lots of flushing to clean the system

2: Too much cleaning. Ie some people go over boards... Just like washing ya hands... If you over do it, then you will have issues... The same goes for equipment..

Washing a car when dirty or every few weeks / months may be good for it and any impression your trying to make..

Wash it every day and your going to take off some of teh shine and for what gain... Same for Coffee machines...

And food for that matter - Fit for purpose and every thing in moderation... Except coffee and Wives... She is due back Monday night... Lots of cleaning and hiding going on

As a newbe I used teh tablets of course and followed the User manual almost to the letter...

Once I went to the true cleaner... I used about the same volume... Maybe a touch more... I used too much once and it was like putting normal dish washing detergent/ liquid in a front loader... Not a good look :-[

In another thread Talk Coffee recommends 1/4 teaspoon, and no more than 1/week for a casual use home machine.

            Hi Greg and Rusty,

Im too scared to recommend anything at all for thermoblock machines and superautos, but 1 tsp is way too much I think. I am unsure of the composition of Sunbeam tablets but I *think* I may have read somewhere that Bernard (Bombora) says their Clean Machine formulation is Sunbeam friendly. :-/.

Best to check the manual or put to the specialists like Gilkatho, Euro or Cosmorex Id reckon. Anger Management also knows his Sunbeams pretty well....

              Thanks TC .... I think

As I said in my post... About the same size of the tablet.. Thus I used about 1/2 a teaspoon about every 3 weeks depending on use etc.

Note: this is just for the Group Head and flush... Not a de scale.

Disclaimer. Not all teaspoons are teaspoons.... I also have a little plastic scoop that came on one of my purchases... I will take a photo 2night and you can then see the size. And no I do not have precision scales, but they are on my to get list.

I spoke with the distributors of Espresso Clean and they assure me it is suitable for a thermoblock machine.

I will follow the advise given here and reduce the amount to 1/4 teaspoon

Thanks Greg and AM and Chris for your valued input 8-)

I think 1/4 tsp is plenty. If I use any more than that (and I have in the past) it chokes my machine.

Just like the "how long is a piece of string" it does also depend on the tea spoon your using...

I did get a collection including some soup ladles, but my wife said I was being ANAL... And that just because or kids like BIG teaspoons when making hot sweet drinks... CS members would not be so silly.....

I have uploaded a select of spoons that were in our drawer and the little plastic one is too small.. The next one is what I use on my new machine and on the SB I used about 1/2..

I also included a pic of the SB tabs to help assess the size..

I like the look of the wooden handles.

You do a bit of wood turning as well?

I use one marked as 1/4 Teaspoon so it must be accurate :
