Call and log with SunBeam.. The pump has 5 years...

That is assuming it is the Coil / pump  that has failed...

If it is due to poor maintenance and the system is full of scale.. Could be a minor issue.  But if teh pump is just not working it is either the Pump or the switch..  Switch is cheep... Pump is not but should be covered.

Go for it... Who ya gunna call.. Ghost Busters - NO... SB

20 minutes is a long trek by Adelaide standards.

Its going to be 43C today, so I drove my wife to work.

Peak hour, home to CBD is 5km, then back the opposite direction 10km to work - a whole 25 minutes  ;D

Could you let me know the outcome as my Sunbeam intermitantly has the same problem and I know its only a matter of time before it stops making steam all together

              Switch and or Solenoid..

If the solenoid... Covered under teh pump Warranty... Call SB ASAP...

There us a Blue and red type... As I understand it one seems to have a high fail rate in the windings..

Q: Does it still make the pump sound but no steam OR not even any sound ?

It has come good, and working perfectly.

I didnt do a thing, so am at a loss.

All I can think is how good that 3 year pump warranty is...

Thats what Sunbeam said when my 6900 went in for repair.
So they sent it back untouched and it died again 5 days later.
Thats how I got the free 6910.

Ditto when mine started leaking internally - they rang and said its ready to collect - and not we couldnt replicate the problem so decided it doesnt exist :

                        Hi,

Mine just failed today. I can hear the pump working but no steam . Could it be the solenoid ? If so can it be DIY job. Considering that I need a new collar soon, Im not keen on taking it to a repair centre were the cost may outway fixing ...

my mistake... Coil not solinoid ... If pump working, then a blockage in the steam pump or thermoblock... Not so easy...

If ya in brisy I can assist, if not then sb

If it is the pump and not clearly lack of cleaning etc... Then warranty.

Ok, Will look at it again when I get home. Hopefully its just a bloackage in the steam wand. Would running a descaler help ?

Do a search... The link was only just re posted but I have posted previously as to the method you MUST use if your intending to try and DE scale the steam wand...

However... If nothing is coming through... The process may not work...

If ya can... Get some large Si tubing and a 50ml syringe...

1: Set ya system up for a STEAM de scale as per my previous post...

2: Connect the Si tubing to steam tip and to the syringe...

3: Open the steam valve... Ie Switch it on and use the syringe to draw /suck in an attempt to get some fluid coming through...

NOTE... Set ya system up and work outside as per my instructions/post.. In addition use eye/face protection and gloves.. If it pops off and you get splashed in teh face eyes... The de scaling solution may not be very good... It will also be HOT... Almost ... I say almost steam..

4: Do not run the steam pump for excessive time... Then try again after it has been sitting for 5 min...

5: If it clears then flush - do at least another 2 de scale process with clean water and make sure your system and steam pathways are clean of any chemicals..
