  • Dribbling wand.

    Hi,

My 2009 V3 Silvia is only a few months old.

Lately I have noticed that the steam wand is dribbling about 1tsp of water during heat up.

In other peoples experience is this normal, is it residue in the wand, or possible a seal worn out very prematurely?

Is there anything I should do to prevent it getting worse?

    Regards

    Re: Dribbling wand.

Hey there, do a search, its normal fir a Silvia during warm up. Turn on, tighten steam knob or face the very real possibility of a burnt out boiler element, have a great day

Hi WSully, thank you for the info.

I have read enough posts now to always search before posting

My concern is that it only started happening over the last few weeks. I also read plenty on how to fix it, suggesting it is a problem.

I was concerned that over tightening was going to shorten the life of the washers. Or I may have debris stuck in there.

      Regards

Always follow the correct search method.. see here.. http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1257241858

In addition ya first post did not indicate that you knew what the problem was.. You were asking for advice as to the problem..

Ya second e-mail is about what impact doing the mods will have..

If ya follow the correct procedures etc should not be a big issue... If you OVER TIGHTEN.. and go too heavy handed... Then that is a different manner..

          Re: Dribbling wand.

My Silvia would do this all the time so I put a small jug under the nozzle. I think it is caused by the metal cooling down and contracting leaving the valve open slightly. I would just pinch it up the next time I turned her on.
