  • About to buy this Rancilio combo...

    Hi,

I am about to order the Sylvia/rocky/base combo.

It is asking me if I would like a 53mm or 57.5 tamper? what size is the Sylvia?

Has anyone seen this combo cheaper?

    Thanks!

Well, you should not be posting non-sponsor links for a start.

Its a 58mm (with various tolerances) basket size on the Silvia, but if you were to enquire with the sponsors here, you might even get a tamper that fits the basket perfectly in the deal. Worth at least asking.

The sponsors are all over on the left...

If you have to ask what size tamper for that unit... Then I would suggest you dont buy online...

        Contact the sponsors...

Youve been asking for help over the last few days and this isnt the first time youve been pointed to the sponsors.

The members here have a well earned reputation for coffee related knowledge.

Why ask our advice if you arent going to take it?

Do yourself a favour an ask Talk Coffee what deal they can do for you.

For a start if you buy online what are you going to do if youre unlucky and something goes wrong?

The site sponsors have an unrivalled reputation for excellent service.

Im in Sydney and bought from Talk Coffee; youre lucky they are close by. Go in and have a look at what youll be buying and talk to Chris.

Yeah, I did not understand that you could send everyone an email via the sitesponsors@coffeesnobs.com.au, plus I was being lazy.

I have sent an email, hopefully everyone gets it.

If you have provided the right information, those sponsors that can - will reply... Those that are not in a position to; will just let it go through to the keeper.

Some of our comments may seem a bit harsh... But rules are rules and the relationship with the Sponsors is such that it works both ways...

Remember... Use the CS search function -read the stickies on all the topics... and most of ya questions will have already been answered.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I have a budget of 1500, the Rancilio combo seems to be the best "bang for my buck" that I have found. I would rather not buy used. If anyone else has any suggestions of another kit that would be comparable, I am listening..

In that price range the Silvia/Rocky is your best option. There really isnt a direct competitor to this combo.

The Lelit Combi is a less expensive option which is well made but not from commercial components like the Silvia. The results can be almost as good as the Silvia/Rocky. The only other option is to spend ~$500 more on something like a VBM Piccolo or Diadema Perfetta....or spend $1000+ more on a HX.
