  • Descaling em 6910

    Hi guys,

I think its time to descale my em6910 for the first time. The manual give options of two way:

no 1 - sunbeam expresso machine descaling tablets

no 2 - sunbeam liquid descaler

Which one do other 6910 owners prefer using?

Also are there any tips or tricks that i should know about?

    thanks heaps

I use Bombora triple action cleaner as that is able to run through the steam arm.

Note your option No 1, and possibly option 2, which i have not used, the manual says dont run through steam - others have done it and jammed the machine.

SB descaler will crack the scale off like plaque. Bombora triple action dissolves it.

So the relevant blurbs go. Im happy with the Bommy as it dissolves the rubbish.

    Hope that helps

    Chris

      Thanks Chris... Handy to know..

I would still recommend turning the seam settings to the LOWEST temp and the WETTEST settings..

That way you should also get less steam (so to speak) and a wetter wash through the steam wand... Also do it out side if possible as the fumes may be an issue for some..

Hi, I am new to this and have just joined up. I am still working out whether or not to become a "real" coffeee snob or not. My husband bought me a subscription to Italianiscious and I won a coffee machine. Its a ISOMAC ALBA ! Is this easy to use? .. or do i require classess?

          Welcome HelenD

I would suggest you Go here http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163710607/950#950 and tell us a bit more about your Coffee experiences / background and what Coffee equipment you have  or have used..

Some might say or imply that making coffee is Hard, while others have a different view..  But one thing for sure; it is an interesting and long road.

You may need to update ya profile as to ya location as there could be a CS sponsor or another experienced CS member wioth some spare time... Just around the corner.

Training may be a great step forward and do some searching and reading.. As the Grinder and Beans etc all have an effect on the outcome.

PS. What is the mag like... Wife and daughter went back to visit rels and want to go back again...
          Welcome..

Just wondering if i need to remove the anti-calc filter in the water jug. The manual says nothing about it. :-/

              Hi anu

I remove it whenever I descale. Dont think you want the solution getting into it.

                  I always remove it.

Just remember to get all the air out of it when placing it back in the container otherwise you will probably have trouble getting the pump to work properly.

To do this I partly fill the container with water then put the filter in the container giving it a shake whilst upright to remove the trapped air before clipping back into place.

                    Welcome to Coffee Snobs Helen.

                    Nice looking machine that Alba.
It looks like it has been put together with a standard e-61 type build so to answer your question, "Yes, its easy to use".

                    Do you need lessons?
That depends on how much espresso machine experience you have.
                    If little, get some.
It will make your learning curve less steep.
(When you tell us where you are we can point you to the nearest tutor we recommend.)

Some of us have had lessons long after getting into this hobby because you can always learn from someone who knows more.

I did lessons to decide which first machine to buy.
                    Were all different.
