Re: Advice needed on a new coffee machine.
The single boiler model, like mine, is cheaper and will do what I said.

Cant say that I have, but just went and had a look at it on the Talk Coffee Website....Originally posted by 0B3E292B1B233E212D20284C0 link=1264821224/2#2 date=1264824519You definitely are targetting HX territory. Have you a separate budget for a grinder?
In the $1500 range (OK, its a bit more
) I suggest you have a look at this: VBM Junior
Greg
Also looked at the Expobar III... being a twin boiler.

If you want to steam 2 lots of two that would work but still take a while.
If you want better than that you need to think HX.
My Expobar will happily pull shot after shot and steam milk until the cows come home.
IIRC the boiler is 2litres.
Or to keep under $1500 buy two Sunbeam 6910s and get someone to help you steam the second jug at the same time you are doing the first.
I went straight for the HX and obviously have saved money and heartache by not having to upgrade since.Originally posted by 43554650515A340 link=1264821224/0#0 date=1264821224Id prefer to spend more now on something decent, than more later after buying a half measure now.

Advice needed on a new coffee machine.
Hi folks,
Before I start to hassle the sponsors directly I thought Id throw this into the fray.
I know this is in the $500-$1500 section, but lets not take that as gospel
I currently have a 7 month old Delonghi ESAM3000 Semi Auto. It grinds x mg of beans based on the knob setting, tamps, sends x mls of water through again based on the settings. I then spend a good couple of minutes texturing the milk, especially if its 3 or more people.
Now Im happy to do batches of 4, but Id like something that could steam enough milk for 4 lattes. Im not up with how big a boiler needs to be to output that much steam to get it up to heat.
What would you recommend?
The Rancilio Silvia gets a good write up, but is it beefy enough to steam that much milk. I was looking at the Sunbeam 6910 with its twin thermoblocks, will it steam better than the delonghi? So much to learn, so little time
Id prefer to spend more now on something decent, than more later after buying a half measure now.Tags: None
