    Re: EM1690 Diagnosing Worn Collar

After replacing the seal and finding no improvement I sent the SB in for a new collar under warranty

Up to two weeks before it comes back

I must be stupid - I cant any results when I search this subject  :-[

Im getting water coming over of the top of the basket as well as through the spout.  Ive checked the seal and made sure the assembly is screwed in tight.  The pressure gauge is reading normal at about one oclock.

Is this symptomatic of a worn collar?

The unit is still under Sunbeam warranty until June then extended warranty for another four years  :

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as always.

Could be due a new g/h seal... If that doesnt fix it a spacer under the seal will buy you time...

    Hi Rusty

I have the same machine; I find this happens if I overload the basket or do not twist the group head far enough to the right. Check that you are leaving about 5mm of space at the top of your basket. Also if the grind is too fine then it will choke the pump and cause it to overflow over the basket. Does the pump stay constant or does it bounce when it reaches 1 o’clock?

    hope this helps

Collar and seal....  SB may or may not cover it, too many being heavy handed and overdosing...  Call and see how you go ..

Remember extended does not cover every thing you think it does.. Read the fine print....

See an earler post of mine, as to how to use the search function.... It will make a big difference.. Hundreds of posts and pics as to the issue and the fix and the cause...

Forums and I- bricks do not mix.....
