I have a pided Silvia. When I turn the steam function on the temperature reading on the pid keeps on going up. I turn the steam off at about 145 deg, but if I didnt, it would just keep going. I think I have seen it up to 180.
Having just stripped the machine to galvanize the chassis and rebuilt it, I have learned something about the inner workings. Logic suggests that the problem is the steam thermostat. The thermostat is clearly easily replaced.
My question is: Do thermostats expire?
Shakin Stevens (its the caffeine).
