Re: Descaling Gaggia Classic
"Espresso Clean @home is designed to clean, descale and sanitise the brewing group, handles, filters, the milk line system and boilers of domestic and small office machines. It has a unique application where the machine has no programmed cleaning cycle (as distinct from descaling or decalcification cycle) and the brewing group cannot be removed for cleaning."

Re: Descaling Gaggia Classic
So taking this a step further - The product Cafetto is called Espresso Clean and should only be used to backflush ?. As this drawn back inside the machine does this also descale. Probably not ?
I was given this product from a coffee shop to help me out - Do commercial machines have to be descaled or just backflushed ?

Re: Descaling Gaggia Classic
Cafetto is NOT a descaler.
DO NOT put it in the water reservoir.

Descaling Gaggia Classic
Probably a dumb question - its about descaling a Gaggia Classic. I have some Cafetto - do I put 1 level scoop in the group head (with a blind filter which I have to get) and follow the instructions OR can I put the Cafetto into the water reservoir (mixed) and run the pump a number of times ,let it soak for about 20 minutes and then run pump again in short bursts ? Of course after I would run clean water thru the machine before brewing .
The reason I asked this that a coffee machine service firm looked at machine to find out about my poor steaming problems and stated that all it needed was a good descale - to do $143 !!!
