  • EM6910 Issue

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster here.

Had an EM6910 for a while. Never had a problem with it, and can always get nice tiger stripes.

Was running descaler through it with a blind head, and for whatever reason the pressue didnt "dump" at the end of the cycle like it normally does. Now the portafilter is jammed onto te group head nice and tight.

Im pretty sure if I try any harder to wrench it off Ill risk breaking the machine with torque. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: EM6910 Issue

Never ever use a blind filter.

Say again Never.  Read the manual and use the Rubber blind.. (edited - damad i-phone)

    Open the hot water ....

    A little wiggle and hope.

Would suggest that you may have stufed it, if any grinds got back into the system. Valve / Gauge and Steam will now be suspect.

Just on this topic, dont mean to thread-jack or anything, but does the EM6910 not have a 3-way valve that allows for backflushing with a blind filter?

          NO

Some might argue... The actual valve used is in-fact a 3 way... However the configuration of this valve is such that it does not perform the same FUNCTION and nor in the same manner as other systems. Some system have many 3-way valves in use...

Further more; teh use of teh term 3-way is misleading in the context that many in the coffee world reference it/ and its true functionality should actually be termed ie... as an isolated group dump valve OR group back pressure isolation valve OR

Any taker for something a little more 100% correct

1: Plumbing but be a isolated cct
          2: Focused on teh Group
          3: Manual or electronic

Fair enough. Always good to have a better understanding as to what actually operates inside these things!! Are there many machines on the market nowadays (bar Sunbeam/Breville) that dont include these valves?

No... Most every device uses a 3 way of sorts some where in their system...

But as to employing a an isolated group dump valve OR group back pressure isolation valve OR other... methods to perform the same function...

              Who knows...

How many machines out there to start with

Sounds like it was given to you for a reason... It has problems...

In addition; A visit to ya local CS sponsor to learn more may be a much better way froward than continuing with the EM6910.

                        Happened to me once.
You need to break the pressure seal.
Try levering the edge of the basket VERY carefully with a stubby screwdriver.
Dont aim to release all the pressure in one go.
If you manage to release a little then back off and try again to release a little more.
Once youve relieved all the pressure it should come off as normal.

No group or baskets and makes buzzing noises..

I think I know why they gave it away..

Realy not worth taking on others failures, unless your across the machine... Be it a Car, Coffee machine or boat
