Hi everyone,
I am mostly new to CS and have been madly reading these forums over the last couple of days.
I have had an espresso gaggia for the last 15 years and it has served me well, with only the occasional service and more recently some repairs done by hubby who has gotten to know the insides of the machine quite well
Anyway, it has finally died to the point of no return and after 15 years I think perhaps a new machine is in order.
Budget is limited and I am looking at the Gaggia Classic, the Saeco Via Venezia or possibly the Sunbeam EM6910. I dont think I can stretch to the Silvia and in all honesty I think it may be above my needs anyway.
I have a LUX grinder.
After all my reading I am finding it almost impossible to make a decision. All machines seem to be both well recommended and also disliked.
I make only 1 or 2 coffees a day (with milk, usually only one at a time, never more than 2), and as you can probably gather from my long term relationship with my Gaggia, I am not really a coffee fanatic, but I know what I like and am happy to build a relationship with my machine to get that. I have no idea how the espresso gaggia would rate but with years of practice I have been very happy with the coffee I can make with it (I drink only with milk).
Probably the most important thing at this point is a machine that will last – I do not want to be buying again in 5 years - opinions on this point seem to vary with all the above machines.
Can anyone please help me with this decision?
Also, I live in a small town and do not have access to stores to view a range of machines. I believe there is a store I can get to that stocks the SB and also one that may have a couple of gaggias, so I am flying a bit blind.
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks
