Re: Burnt Bitter coffee with Delonghi
hi tash
sounds like the delonghi might have sprung a small leak internally,
is the coffee flow slower than normal
also the brew group needs to be removed and rinsed on a regular basis
lubricating these groups also helps to extend the life,
the delonghi group drive system has a high failure rate, due to not enough cleaning

Re: Burnt Bitter coffee with Delonghi
Hello Tash,
yes the cleaning cycle requires a different product, must not use descaler in there.
The cleaning cycle cleans the brewing system and is well worth doing regularly as recommended as it helps extend the interval between services.
For an auto the cleaning stuff will also be a tablet, not to be confused with the descaling tablet...usually different shapes and sizes from eachother, cleaning tablets are smaller. If you visit a specialty coffee equipment shop they should have a compatible product.

A.

Re: Burnt Bitter coffee with Delonghi
Yes it does have a clean cycle. I ran the descale but I think the clean is a different cycle. I think it may need a different product to run through it too. The store couldnt tell me what I needed other than the descale. Ill call Delonghi again.

Re: Burnt Bitter coffee with Delonghi
Hello Tash,
Automatics run "cool" so coffee shouldnt be burnt in the normal course of brewing if all is ok.
As long as there isnt anything actually wrong with the machine, I would normally suggest it is to do with the set up of grind vs dose. This is where most auto coffee brew problems lie.
The automatic "group" could need service (as in a clean)...but that should be being taken care of by you running whatever cleaning cycles the manufacturer recommends. Im not 100% certain but I think the magnifica has cleaning cycles no....?
Other than that, yes it probably needs to go in for service.
You could ask a sponsor that deals in autos (and therefore understands them) if you can bring it to him and make coffee for him to try, to get a knowledegable opinion, but after that if it needs to go in it will need to go to a delonghi agent. Be aware that time is money especially if you ask a non delonghi selling sponsor to help.

Burnt Bitter coffee with Delonghi
I have a Delonghi Magnfica and I have been happy with it for a year now but the last 2 weeks every coffee has been burnt and bitter. I have descaled, cleaned and changed the grind setting and its still not producing a normal cup. I have used a few different beans and it burns them all. I have called the Delonghi help line and they have said that it needs to be sent away. Does anyone know why this would be happening? Thanks
