  • EM 6910 Durability Report

After 19 months service the SB needed a new steam pump - covered under the five year warranty

The symptoms were gradually reducing steam pressure until NIL!

The only other repair Ive had (apart from two group head seals) was a replacement collar also under warranty just before the twelve months was up.

I was happy to learn that the SB approved repairer will also handle any repairs I might have under the extended warranty I purchased from Bing Lee. Hes happy to get the extra business and Im more than happy to have a trusted repairer if I should need him

As to your symptom... If teh pump was still making lots of noise and slowly choking and then failing to pump... But would after a small break. Then that is a blockage in teh steam lines... 85% of all units I have seen here and at the local agents have been scale and crud in teh lines !!!

Other than that it has been the switch and or a Open Cct coil.

A: Check and re condition you anti-calk filter
B: Monitor dose levels and any back pressure when locking teh group in.

Just got my old RED machine from work in with comment of leaking lots of water around teh head.

    Split seal ;D

In addition no noticeable ware on the collar, having done the lug mod some 9 months ago.

This is in a less than ideal position and gets all sorts of abuse.

Only other fail was a dead steam pump (OC coil) some 18months ago.

Bought second hand at 1 year old and now has done 3 years in my old work place... If it was a Silvia or other single boiler etc it would have had at least a couple of blown boilers for sure and an unhappy co-owners.

Agree with AM on the steam pump.

Had the same problem but noticed the decline in steam and caught it in time, cleaning out the lines and restoring full pump power before it got too bad.

Other than that, a few group head seals and one collar, fixed by myself as myself stuffed it by overdosing.

Now have an effective dosing technique where there is little pressure or wear on the collar.

Machine is just under 2 years old.

Well I guess its academic whether it was the pump or not - the new pump fixed the problem

YEP... Thats all that counts ;D

He may have cleaned and replaced teh pump as a warranty item to be sure...

          Now about the Anti-calk filter

PS. Keep up the good work and a merry x-mass

              Re: EM 6910 Durability Report

Soak for a few Hrs in a strong Salt water solution.

While the manufacturer say replace every 6 to 12 months...

Cost Vs Forget - as it is not a visible item Vs Risk Management.

I would recommend every 2 or 3 months... Will sooner hurt = NO

Does teh Anti-calk fully protect and take all the scale problems away = NO

Will keeping teh Anit-calk filter charged OR renewed help to minimise build-up and possible issues = YES
