Sunbeam EM 6910 on the blink

Well the 6910 has been a great machine but this morning after not using it for 3 days as I was away in Sydney I turned it on to have the pump motor turn on straight away when I plugged it in weather the power was on or not on the machine. This was very strange. I opened it up and noticed that their was a few cockroaches (no not Queensland supporters) and blew then out much to my disgust. Then I re plugged it back in hoping that the roaches has just fused across some wires and the same happened. I then moved it to another circuit and it instantly blew the safety switch. Well any ideas???? I am thinking that she is headed towards the light at the end of the tunnel. But am interested in finding out what you all think. If it is on the blink what do you recommend for the $1000 - $1500 mark or is it worth saving a bit more.

    Thanks
