  • Thinking about upgrading... need advice

    Hi,

I have a Gaggia Espresso Pure. Thought about changing it for a Silvia, but decided to upgrade it to a HX/E61 machine instead. However, I dont know much about these machines and I would to know which ones offer good value. My budget is $1500 max. But if I could find something around $1000 Id be happy.

Also, does a machine have to be a HX / E61 to have stable water temperature during shots?

I saw the expobar office pulser for 1100, looks like a good choice? (however its not e61 I think)

Hi JS. Are you located in Australia? The reason I ask is because the Expobar Office Pulser is called the Office Semi Automatic here and has a RRP over your budget.
As far as I know there are no E61/HX machines within your budget.

The Nuova Simonelli Oscar is within your budget but is not an E61. The soon-to-be-released Breville is a double boiler but may also be worth your consideration.

A machine certainly doesnt need to have an E61 group to be temperature stable, in fact there are some poor performing E61 machines. There is more to temperature stability than 9lbs of chrome-plate brass.

You dont mention your grinder, there would no point in upgrading unless you have at least grinder up to Rocky class
