Goodness! - such loyalty. Most commendable.
Bashing I think is a little over the top: more of a mild whinge, really.
Now put firmly in my place.
And yes, have found the Rancilio steam wand at Coffee Parts.

Margie, dont be discouraged by the small basket. Give it another go and has been suggested, just put a little less coffee into it.

After a firm tamp, the level of the coffee should be 3-4 mm below the top lip of the basket. Overfilling it, even by a small amount, makes it very difficult to lock into the machine.

Using the smaller basket gives you a different coffee experience, consider:

You can grind a little bit coarser  as there are fewer holes in the bottom of the basket so the hot water already has some increased resistance to get through. This will give you a different flavour.

The coffee is a little less intense - and sometimes you want that with a shot - you dont need every coffee to be flavour saturated. Sometimes you want a lighter coffee.

You can offer a bit more choice to your guests.
Cheers.

I found this with my Classic standard small basket.
I got a new small and normal basket from Greg Pullman at the same time as I got my tamper (many years ago) which have proved to be fantastic.
The small basket is not at all fussy about getting the dose exactly right. It has a deep but half size shape and clips into the handle spring easer as well.
