I initially presumed (wrongly) you had the 6910 with my comment about improvement.

If you like the Nemox, you will like the Lelit, they are basically identical. Plus the Lelit now has a normal steam tip, gauge and some other improvements, as well as better support by the looks of it.

I always thought they were essentially the same machine but with a different badge, and they sort of are but detail things like the steam valve for instance are different, and getting a replacement for my nemox was a pita. So support is important I reckon.

And you can get a PID model, but machine only.

I think they are a great machine, has practical things like a biggish drip tray, decent height of spouts for taller mugs etc, nice steam. The slightly annoying things are that its a bit noisy (esp the grinder when compared to something like the breville smart grinder) and the the grinder is also a bit messy.

    Cheers

I am leaning towards the lelit combi because it provides me with a grinder upgrade??

I have both grinders and I dont use the EM0480 any more. The Lelit grinder is much more consistent and being stepless you can dial it in to where you want it. Unlike the EM which I found would go from good shot to choke in one step.

If you do get the Lelit you wont be disappointed in my opinion.

    Thanks for all the advice.

i also like the look of the Nemox del opera, are there any pros and cons for both machines, like serviceability etc?

I guess what i ultimately want to know now is will i be disappointed with the upgrade?

    Thanks again for everyones replies.
Serviceability depends on parts availability in the future. We have invested (and are invested!) in ensuring parts for the Lelits we distribute will be available so that your machine doesnt become an expensive kitchen ornament for the sake of a $3 part years from now. Where we can, weve helped others with similar brands. However, a Lelit part wont necessarily go into one of the other brands and thats where others have run into trouble.

    Gday folks,

Having the same problem as many probably have had round here, got a nice bonus from work and would like to buy a new machine, sunbeam finally gave up the ghost and im looking at the lelit combi, the new one, i have the sunbeam grinder still but im dubious as to what would work better ( and look better) a matching grinder or an old grinder. But as you can see the internet has given me too many options and dont know where to spend my hard earned. I have about 1k but obviously would like the value for money rather than money on a brand.

    Help please
    Hi Gibbocore,

The Lelit Combi grinder has stepless Micrometric adjustment, so you should be able to get it tuned in better than the Sunbeam grinder.

But if you want to bring your grinder in well soon be able to tell if its OK or not. A couple of demo shots later, and you will have the answers you seek

change your grinder first, rocky/smart grinder at minimum

then with the sort of requirements you talk about you should be able to reach that with a good single boiler like the silva/classic you could then go on and add a pid etc later

on the over hand as mainly ristrto have you thought about a lever.

    Hiya,

    Sorry should have provided that.

Its the old sunbeam em3800 with an em0480.

Ive been using unpressurized baskets and finally got my grind right enough with the equipment ive been using but have still been underwhelmed, i live in st peters and around the corner from Coffee Alchemy, where they roast and you can buy within minutes of the roast cooling. Im pretty sure it was my yearning for the thick buttery crema that alchemy get that blew my machine in the end. I drink a lot of ris but also enjoy a latte to sip in the backyard, i generally just make coffee for myself but never really more than two at a time.

Hope that narrows it down a bit.

Maybe you can provide info on your current setup in terms of what you like and dislike about it, it will give everyone a bit more info to suggest something that might suit, as like you say there are heaps of choices.

I have had the Nemox cafe del opera, which is like a lelit combi, for about 4 or 5 years and have really loved it. Its very convenient to have one unit that does everything, one powerpoint, takes up little bench space etc. I have become really familiar with this machine and have got to a point where I can consistently make great coffees with it. It has really served me well and I would recommend it. Not sure that it would be an upgrade as such in terms of the final result, compared to what you have now though.

I recently upgraded to a HX machine, but am keeping this to take with me when travelling.

    Cheers
