Re: Lelit pl042em steam leak from arm
Hi kai888,
The steam tap is brass on brass so has the potential to last longer than taps which use a rubber seal, but because there isnt a rubber seal, a little steam may escape after turning the valve off or there may be some dripping. It wont be an issue for the machine and you can ignore it - just remember to switch back to brew mode after steaming and refill your boiler as per all single boiler machines. Anything worse than a drip or two is not normal and you should let us know.

Re: Lelit pl042em steam leak from arm
The way to fix it is to replace the tap. It will however eventually leak again so you might get to know Cremorne pretty well.
Someone tried some sort of heat shrink plastic tubing as per the following thread. Not sure if it lasted or not.

Re: Lelit pl042em steam leak from arm
Welcome to the world of Lelit. Its normal, common, is likely to get worse, and is not desirable. Its a pity if this wasnt pointed out to you at the time of purchase.Originally posted by 474D451414142C0 link=1315624759/0#0 date=1315624759Hi guys, just quick question, ive had a lelit pl042em for just under a week and i find when i turn the steam knob to fully closed, a small amount of steam is still leaking out.
Is this normal? i dont think it did this when i first used it
Is this a common fault ?
thanks
They are a good machine and make nice coffee, though in my opinion, the issue you describe is their Achilles heel.
Rather than use a more traditional (and suitable) plunger type, spindle and washer tap assembly, Lelit have chosen to use a needle valve to shut off the water/steam. Over time it doesnt seat as well as when new, hence the leak.
