Thanks for the feedback gents! Dennis at Cuppacoffee has a good deal on the Breville so I will try and get down there this weekend.

You should be able to pick up a Breville package within your budget.
Bang four bucks its hard to beat!

With regards to the grinder youll have to spend a lot more (probably triple) to get something a little better.  In my opinion its still worthwhile (always buy the best grinder you can afford) but nothing beats the Smart Grinder for value.

I havent followed the posts about the 900 since its release but obviously there is plenty of early feedback.  If its largely positive then the Breville combo seems like an ideal solution for you.

If you rarely need to make more than 2 milk-based drinks at a time you could go for a Silvia or Lelit and spend the majority of your budget a grinder.

You can send an email to all the sponsors at once (on the bottom of the list of sponors at the left of this page) and the ones that can help will respond.

    Cheers

Thanks, I had a read of that and the Brevile thread last night.

Id be interested to hear form anyone who knows where I can get a taste of what the Breville has to offer and where to go for the best price! Im thinking Id like more than the smart grinder too but not sure if the budget will stretch!

Wiffles recent thread http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1317287535/31#31 is a good place to start.

    A Silvia/Lelit with a top-notch grinder will come in comfortably under $1500

Time for a new coffee machine, advice please

OK, so Im starting from a very low level here. I currently have a Saeco Magic Comfort which quite frankly has never given me a great cup of coffee so its time to upgrade as its broken for the 2nd time!

I tend to drink short blacks and cappos and the missus drinks long blacks. Im looking for a machine that will give me a great hit so I dont feel that I need to go round to the local barista for another one 5 minutes later!

Ideally I want to stay under sub $1,500 and I also need to purchase a grinder so would appreciate your thoughts on suitable options. Ive been reading the Brevile dual boiler thread which looks interesting. Anything else I should consider as an alternative?

Id also really like to see and taste the finished product before purchasing, any feedback on somewhere I can do this as well as make the purchase, happy to travel within reason! Im in the inner west of Sydney.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
