I'm sure jetblack will have no problems doing a PID install as the sell them and offer them on new sales. I only just intalled one myself. Great addition tot he machine.

I also have a Rocky doser. Great grinder. Just make sure you grind as you flick it in the PF. Try and minimize how much grind you leave in the doser between doses.

I also recommend getting a click-clack lid and using that as the hopper lid on the Rocky. Lets you puff out the grinds in the chute reasonably well.

Lastly, would jetblackespresso do PID installs as part of a servicing request?
I bought a set of genuine Rocky Rancilio burrs from Jetblack a few years back, from memory about $60, make sure you buy genuine the aftermarket burrs are available for a few dollars less but last only a fraction of the time.
The Rocky grinder is pretty well bullet proof (owned one for 10 years and still going strong) would buy one over a Breville product any day, check the problem posts for Breville products as opposed to Rancilio.

    Silvias are very solid machines.
    Easy to service.
    Parts available everywhere.
Id go a Breville smart grinder for bang for your buck over the rocky doser.

    Happy shopping

    Hi JWL,

No worries with getting them serviced here.

When you check the Silvia, check for rust under the drip tray and on the chassis - its common , but usually doesnt impact on serviceability. Check that the steam valve feels soft to close and doesnt leak or youll need to get that reconditioned at the service. If the Rocky is a few years old you should budget for a new set of burrs.

First time buyer, what should I look out for?

Im hoping to purchase a 2nd hand silvia(v2) + rocky(doser). Are there any common problems I should be looking out for when I inspect the units? Would I be able to send it into jetblackespresso for servicing? It is out of warranty by now.

Working...
