  • Contaminated Water Tank after Back Flush??

    Hello all,
I need some help, I have just bought a Gaggia Classic and have compleated the OPV adjustment already.
The result was a better looking and tasting shot.

    Now the problem is this..

After adjusting the OPV Valve, the amount of water that flowed back into the water reservor was about 120ml in 30 sec (i had installed the Blind Filter Basket).  I used 2 jugs.

SO my understanding is now when I Back Flush with some Cleaner, will some of the cleaner enter the water reservor, like it did when i was testing the OPV Valve.

This is doing my head in so hopefully someone can help.

kefa Thanks for the pics they really helped

    Thanks everyone
    Michael

No. When you back flush, the 3-way valve opens and purges the waste in to the drip tray via the small metal tube you see at the front of your machine.

The OPV valve which you adjusted only bypasses pump water back to the tank, so pump draws water in, output goes either in to boiler, or back in to tank. Theres no group contamination at all.

    All good!
