  • Looking at downsizing from my La Cimbali MicroCimbali

Hi all, I am looking at downsizing my coffee machine as I have recently moved house; any advice for around the $500 - $1000 range?
    Thanks in advance

Smaller then a Microcimbali? How much space are you working with here? I wouldnt have thought that the MicroCimbali was something outragiously large.

Yeah I know it sounds strange, but my new place is tiny. I was thinking something compact and square?

if you cant fit a MicroCimbali in your kitchen, Id imagine that your options are limited...

Saeco Via Venezia perhaps? thats about the smallest espresso machine on the market that I can think of.

Is it a Height Issue, or a benchspace issue??

if its benchspace, Id think that youre likely not going to find any that are smaller

If you still want a lever machine, the Pavoni Europiccola/Professional have a smaller footprint than the Microcimbali by a fair margin. The Arrarex Caravel is also very compact, but you do lose the ability to steam milk.

Any more details about what size constraints youll have, and what youre willing to sacrifice in terms of the type of machine you get?

It mainly has to do with benchspace issues, so a machine with a smaller footprint would be the go. I guess in the end I would be after a smaller machine that still has the ability to steam milk. I will also have to look at selling my beloved La Cimbali, but I will have to wait a few weeks until I can put it up for sale on this site

So, how much benchspace Do you have? Its rather hard to work on "smaller then a microcimbali" if we dont know what space is available

Failing all that, I suppose you could always look into getting an Otto or Atomic type. As thats likely about the smallest you could find, but theyre externally heated. Plus side to those is Youre able to have a cool piece of future-retro-tastic art that you can also make coffee from! ;D

I think that an automatic/semi automatic machine would be the go as I have found the lever machine to be a bit hit and miss, especially when I am half asleep in the morning!
