Re: Lelit PL41 - PID displays "A2". Huh??
Im having trouble finding out if the steam is supposed to be PID controlled or full throttled - can anyone confirm?
If its PID controlled steam, then you definitely have a fault...
anyway, with the uncertainty it sounds like the service agent is the one to answer for you!

Further update. The PID goes off the scale for any steam if left unattended. Will not stabilise at 144 or whatever its supposed to be.

Thanks for your comments. Tap water is around 21C and ambient around 30C (weather in NQ is at its perfect best at the moment).
Now Im taking notice it is happening on the 2nd steam use of the day (there is no 3rd). Id hate to have to send it away for a week or two so I can live with this so long as it doesnt get worse.

Re: Lelit PL41 - PID displays "A2". Huh??
To me, who has never seen or touched one, it just sounds like the element at 100% is a teensy bit overpowered, which is a side effect of trying to maintain the temp during extraction. Youre in North Qld and no doubt the machine was designed in a very different environment - it could just be that your warm "cold" water coupled with room temp is high enough to get the boiler hotter than expected.
It is annoying though, and perhaps there is another problem, as you said. If it can be tuned or tested I might ask for that under warranty. Especially if the PID is active during steaming and not bypassed like I suspect.

- does it ever happen when NOT set to steam? If so, how?
- does it happen during the middle or end of steaming? How long after starting?
I dont know about the Lelit PID, but others will give full power to the element during steaming to give as much steam as possible (I canna steam it capn, I doont ave the pwr!). I guess its possible this could make it reach the max threshold.
I am a terrible witness in court - too many red wines from an early age - but to the best of my memory - it only happens when set to steam and it randomly occurs, sometimes on 1st steam and sometimes on 2nd (I usually do lattes each afternoon, refilling the boiler between each). To remedy I turn the machine off for a minute or so.

Andy - I sent that PM to you by mistake when looking up Jetblack - and sent you a retraction when I realised - sorry mate.
I contacted Jetblack and the customer service guy replied promptly to confirm that A2 means the boiler is hotter than the set threshold. I need to monitor this as it could be a small fault getting bigger. I am anal about refilling the boiler after every steam process so Im confident its not an operator error and it is not happening every time.

Doesnt that mean the PID is over shooting and therefore not doing its job?Originally posted by 153A2B1D333E3C341C3E393A5F0 link=1334728766/5#5 date=1334737343If its once in a while it is usually because the boiler temp has exceeded a preset threshold (usually 155 degrees).

Hi Whiteman,
There can be a couple of reasons for this alarm. If its once in a while it is usually because the boiler temp has exceeded a preset threshold (usually 155 degrees).

Re: Lelit PL41 - PID displays "A2". Huh??
Its a channel 2 fault which can be caused due to poor signal to the PID.
It can be boiler probe related, wiring related or the PID itself.
Best to take it to place of purchase or a technician to have it checked.
