If you have liked theEM6910, and the service cost could be around $300. I would get a new one with grinder which will have a good warranty. Play with the old one if you want. You did not say how much you paid for it so I can not factor that in. But it has served you well -given it has been a learning experience and you have like what it produced. The new EM6910 with grinder are very reasonable.
    Just my thoughts

    6910 pump continuous running ...

    Hi all ...

Our 6910 started playing up yesterday ... pump runs continuously as soon as the unit is switched on at the wall.  Have dismantled as per instructions on this forum with no obvious sign of fault evident inside the machine.

We bought the unit 2nd hand a few months back as an entry into semi-serious coffee making and will likely move to something upmarket in a year or so.  But for now, the 6910 suits us fine.

Searching this forum I see this problem has happened to a couple of people with the likely fault being a triac on the PCB.  DYI repair options are replacement triac (at around $1 for the part), or a replacement PCB (at around $80).  Service Center repair seems something between $200 and $300.  We are also in need of a new group head seal (around $30).

Does anybody have any other ideas on likely causes?  (and fixes).

I dont think its worth sending to a service center, since I can get a brand new EM6910 including EM0480 grinder for around $550.  And maybe this price will come down now that the EM7000 is on the way?

We were going to buy a grinder in the next few days anyway, so maybe get the new machine as well, then attempt a DYI fix on the old machine and sell on eBay (or sell for parts on eBay if the fix doesnt work).

    Any advice or ideas?

    Thanks, Peter
