    Re: New em6910 steam tip

I reckon all Sunbeam service agents will stock them - just call the 1800 number or look em up in the yellow pages.

Ill be needing a quote on an entire steam arm after I snapped mine off. The broken edge looks a lot like ceramic, but could also just be low-quality steel...

      Re: New em6910 steam tip

I just called sunbeam (and their service agent). Both of them said the new steam tip doesnt fit the old machine. Does anyone know is that true?

        Re: New em6910 steam tip

Unless the thread pattern is of a different size, there is no reason for the new tip not to fit. Anyway, the gentleman at Park Holme assured me it was a direct replacement. If it isnt, Ill certainly get my money back when I get my machine back.

Perhaps they meant the old EM6900? Even then I dont think it would be incompatible - I had a close look at the new steam tip in a department store (removed it from the demo machine) and thread looked identical.

I suspect that they just dont want to be inundated with requests for freebie upgrades - or possibly the person you spoke to just didnt know what they were talking about (it happens).

              Re: New em6910 steam tip

I went to another sunbeam service center in Melbourne today, but they dont have stock either. They couldnt check the price for me as well. It seems that the serivce centres in Melbourne dont know much about the new steam tip.

I am in Melbourne and decided to get one of these steam tips. None of the service agents have them but they can order them in.

                Service agent:

Box Hill - Home Spares 9899 0587, 1029 Whitehorse Rd
Forest Hill - Mitcham Appliances, 336 Springvale Road, 9878 2881
Heidelberg - Appliance Service Sales, 177 Burgundy Street, 9459 9848

When I get it Ill post back on any findings that I have.

I just called the Brisbane service Agents ( my number # 2 EM6910 was in for a repair) and their stock of these new tips have arrived... I have one on hold awaiting pick up..

Yes, they are interchangeable and if your having problems getting good micro foam, on the older style units... We tested two tips on one system with the same milk, today at work, and it makes a difference...

How much are they charging for the tip?

I have the new tip now because Sunbeam replaced my machine; its been a while since Ive used the old one so cant really comment on performance, but its so much easier to keep clean...

                              Gday Tony,

I assume you are in Melbourne eastern suburbs. I too didnt know which store to go to, so I rang Sunbeam and they put me on to the following three stores:

Box Hill - Home Spares 9899 0587, 1029 Whitehorse Rd
Forest Hill - Mitcham Appliances, 336 Springvale Road, 9878 2881
Heidelberg - Appliance Service Sales, 177 Burgundy Street, 9459 9848

I would expect that none of these stores have the part, seeing that this is not a typical part that would break or fail. And indeed, when I rang Mitcham Appliances a couple of weeks ago, the proprietor did not have the item available and had to order it in from Sydney. This SHOULD have taken a couple of days but according to Mitcham Appliances, Sunbeam were experiencing severe delays to parts shipment due to a new computer system that they had upgraded to. Apparently this has since been resolved and they were able to ship the part to him the other day. I picked it up yesterday afternoon on my way home from work.

I would suggest that you call any one of these three stores and quote them the correct part number (which is somewhere in this thread). Then be prepared to wait a few days for it to come in, as I dont believe they will readily stock this item.

                              Cheers,

                              Lawrance

                                Hi AM,

I am familiar with the performance of the old steam tip and so I went straight to the new tip this morning and made a couple of coffees using my same work flow.

I didnt really expect any difference, and I have to say that I got what I expected. ;D

I generally steam my coffee glasses before I put them in the microwave to heat up before I do my extraction. I didnt observe much difference in the way the steam was coming out from the tip. There was a slight change in the "shape" of the steam plume as it was coming out of the new tip, but the velocity seemed about the same.

When I steamed my half jug of milk, it wasnt textured any differently to the old tip. Tastes about the same too, but thats a good thing because the previous tip was pretty good, albeit hard to clean.

Overall, Im EXTREMELY happy that Sunbeam have been very responsive to customer feedback and released a new design tip. This greatly aids the cleaning of the steam wand on a fairly impressive "budget" machine. Im all smiles!
