Re: New em6910 steam tip
Ive switched between the old tip and the new tip and the steaming characteristics of the new tip seem to be slightly different. Its only a subtle difference though. I think that the steam that comes out from the new tip is a little bit more "powerful" which probably means that the opening is ever slightly smaller than the original tip, causing a subtly stronger jet.
I think this will result in better textured milk. Ill need to do some more testing with texturing milk to see if it is better or not than the original tip, but at the moment, it does seem to be a slight improvement.

Re: New em6910 steam tip
Hi again Tony,Originally posted by sugilun link=1212673242/20#31 date=1214891278I just called sunbeam (and their service agent). Both of them said the new steam tip doesnt fit the old machine. Does anyone know is that true?
I guess we now know that the new steam tip definitely fits the old wand. I cant categorically say that it will fit the EM6900 but I can say with absolute certainty that the new tip fitted my EM6910.
The reason why I mentioned the EM6900 is because the EM6900 may have different thread on the steam tip. I know for a fact that the EM6900 has a different portafilter (it doesnt fit in the EM6910 properly) and even the thread for the pour spouts on the EM6900 portafilter as well as the C shape spring retainer for the baskets are different.
Oh, and price for the new tip was under $15.
Cheers,
Lawrance

Re: New em6910 steam tip
Hi AM,Originally posted by AngerManagement link=1212673242/40#41 date=1224066229Try the old one first... For me the new one made a big difference...
I am familiar with the performance of the old steam tip and so I went straight to the new tip this morning and made a couple of coffees using my same work flow.
I didnt really expect any difference, and I have to say that I got what I expected. ;D
I generally steam my coffee glasses before I put them in the microwave to heat up before I do my extraction. I didnt observe much difference in the way the steam was coming out from the tip. There was a slight change in the "shape" of the steam plume as it was coming out of the new tip, but the velocity seemed about the same.
When I steamed my half jug of milk, it wasnt textured any differently to the old tip. Tastes about the same too, but thats a good thing because the previous tip was pretty good, albeit hard to clean.
Overall, Im EXTREMELY happy that Sunbeam have been very responsive to customer feedback and released a new design tip. This greatly aids the cleaning of the steam wand on a fairly impressive "budget" machine. Im all smiles!

Gday Tony,Originally posted by sugilun - Tony link=1212673242/40#42 date=1224072186tempestv8: Which customer service center did u go to? I wanna get one of those
I assume you are in Melbourne eastern suburbs. I too didnt know which store to go to, so I rang Sunbeam and they put me on to the following three stores:
Box Hill - Home Spares 9899 0587, 1029 Whitehorse Rd
Forest Hill - Mitcham Appliances, 336 Springvale Road, 9878 2881
Heidelberg - Appliance Service Sales, 177 Burgundy Street, 9459 9848
I would expect that none of these stores have the part, seeing that this is not a typical part that would break or fail. And indeed, when I rang Mitcham Appliances a couple of weeks ago, the proprietor did not have the item available and had to order it in from Sydney. This SHOULD have taken a couple of days but according to Mitcham Appliances, Sunbeam were experiencing severe delays to parts shipment due to a new computer system that they had upgraded to. Apparently this has since been resolved and they were able to ship the part to him the other day. I picked it up yesterday afternoon on my way home from work.
I would suggest that you call any one of these three stores and quote them the correct part number (which is somewhere in this thread). Then be prepared to wait a few days for it to come in, as I dont believe they will readily stock this item.
Cheers,
Lawrance

~$15Originally posted by m@ link=1212673242/20#38 date=1222732789How much are they charging for the tip?Originally posted by AngerManagement link=1212673242/20#37 date=1222670263I just called the Brisbane service Agents ( my number # 2 EM6910 was in for a repair) and their stock of these new tips have arrived... I have one on hold awaiting pick up..
Yes, they are interchangeable and if your having problems getting good micro foam, on the older style units... We tested two tips on one system with the same milk, today at work, and it makes a difference...
I have the new tip now because Sunbeam replaced my machine; its been a while since Ive used the old one so cant really comment on performance, but its so much easier to keep clean...
Got caught at work today, so will pick up in the morning.
