As an interim measure JAHH how about visiting a local bearing supplies store with the exact dimensions of the O-Ring/Seal you need. You may be pleasantly surprised at the range of sizes and materials they will have on offer.... 8-)
This site has some useful information....

    Yea nice machine Jahh
This Bezzera is just middle age (a little younger than me)
I would want to keep it going for another 40 years or so

    THANKS GUYS

I SAW A AN ELEKTRA MICROCASA A LEVA IN A COFFEE SHOP TODAY WHICH REMINDED ME THAT I USED AN ELEKTRA SPRING TO REPLACE MY BROKEN ONE AND THAT THE PORTAFILTERS ARE THE SAME SIZE , THE GROUP IS SIMILAR SO ONE OF THEIR GROUPHEAD SEALS MIGHT FIT

SO THIS IS WHAT I WILL TRY FIRST THEN ILL TRY AND MAKE ONE AS PER KKS INSTRUCTIONS

A suitably thick O-Ring of the right dimensions would probably do a decent enough job as well....

    Yep
You can also try a gasket place
    http://www.segaskets.com.au/other/index.htm

Or just get some sheet rubber that is heat rated and cut one from scratch
as I did for the uncle
No one will see it up there so you don’t have to be to pedantic about appearance but still do an acceptable job
You can use a whole saw to drill the inside diameter first and use scissors to cut the outside
    Method
Get a flat piece of wood drill guide hole
Nail rubber at corners to secure
Guide drill bit of whole saw into pre drilled hole and let the whole saw cut the rubber slowly (best if you also have a drill stand)

    thanks kk

when you say cut to size what do you mean?

Ive not taken the seal out for ages for fear of irreparably damaging it, but the size is appprox 59mm x48mmm so its significantly smaller than any on the coffeeparts list, stingng so are you suggesting cutting a piece out of a similar diameter longer one?

    thanks
    james
