Happy to write about the little #@%$!#.
Dunno about the vids though. Lacking the necessary equipment, Im happy to let others do the Spielberg bit.

    Thanks Mal

Good to my word, I am developing the first CoffeeSnobs VBM Levetta User Guide. Something definitely needed in view of the lack of a good user amnaul provided by Vibiemme. Will post the first draft here for critique

OK, assuming that this tarry substance is observed. How do you remove it? Successive detergent backflushes or just a good scrub with a group head brush and detergent solution?
Its very difficult stuff to remove flynnaus and you will need to scrub it off and even the use of a Dentists Probe tool might come in handy to get it out of tight corners. When you dislodge some, put a small amount in your mouth and taste it, and also smell it. Once youve done that youll never, ever want to give it a chance to build up again... It is truly foul

    Mal.

    Hi guys

If the Levatta came with a real manual it would take a lot of the guess work (and coffee snobs reading) out of operation, adjusting and cleaning!

I found this page from the Bombora web site useful while I was working out how to clean my Levetta ....

Yep - it was Philips head.

I dont think that means a flat head wouldnt be better. You would need something to get a bit of grip on the side of the shower screen. The Philips head left a very small indent.

    What did you use sd?

Do you really mean Philips head? I would have thought slot head.

    thanks flynnaus,

that cleared things up. I thought was just trying to remove the very bottom screen and didnt realize it was attached to the whole basket.

just removed mine after a month of use (4 or 5 doubles a day) and it was very clean. i jiggle and water backflush after every session.

Sorry I meant gasket, not group seal. I corrected in my original post

I havent tried it myself but I have had mine removed. The instrument used was a small Philips head screwdriver. There are two recesses around the group head shower screen that can be used to carefully and gently lever the shower screen + rubber gasket off. Its the gasket that holds the shower screen on.

Theres a destructive method here (for when you intend to replace the seal) and there is also a thread here

    Thanks Chris,

I started to do that and was worried I might bend or scratch the screen. A spare looks like a good idea.

    Cheers,

    Hi sd,

Lever the whole lot down with a flat blade screwdriver against the side of the shower screen using the edge of the group as a pivot point. Keep a spare or two on hand
