    Rubbish!

There was no such thing as a silicon spacer until the 6910 was on the scene IIRC.

Same problem. Replaced the blue seal and still leaking. Cut a ring out of an old milk carton and placed between the blue seal and the group head - fixed the problem. Rang Sunbeam - they told me that spacers are not / have never been available for the 6910 - only the 6900. She said shell hunt around for one and send to me if she can find one.

I guess that Ill just keep making my plastic rings until the thing is totally buggered.

Interesting as I and many others have been sent that Si ring...

Maybe; that it was for the 6900, but it works on the 6910..

I ended up taking it to OBriens at  Seven Hills due to the fact theyre open on Saturdays.  Took them a month to fix as I would assume as they would need to order the parts.  They fixed the line to the espresso guage and also replaced the microswitches on both knobs (Steam & water) and tested the unit thoughoughly.  Works like new now and sunbeam picked up the bill, still a nasty experience but Im glad to have it back.  While it was away I was using the old Saeco Via Venezia with the group handle mod and was producing some reasonable shots but its a messy, slow experience compared to the Sunbeam.
Interesting... Knob switches....  As to the line to the gauge.. Would love to know more..

But then again, this has been a long saga...

Glad your up and running again..

    Take care.

just as a follow-up, thought Id let you know Sunbeam came good and I picked up my machine from repair today!!!  its working great, nightmare over.

sort of talked myself into buying a Silvia though.....

So what was the repair that was carried out ?

Did they explain / provide any feedback ?

I know the guys at Sparkies always attempt to give some feedback ( not always what we might recomend) but 1005 better than nothing and leaving the user in total darkness.

Got an update on my saga.I submitted an essay (3 page word doc copy/pasted into the comments field on their web form). They called me today and explained that theyd talked with the Agent and told them not to even look at the twin thermoblock machines as they are not trained to service them. Also they advised that I can take my machine to the Ashfield agent and get it fixed up on Warranty. Not a bad result, Im glad they talked to those cowboys in Pennant Hills....

Just had a horrific experience with a Sunbeam authorised serivce centre.  Basically paid $135 and the machine wasnt fixed at all, they didnt even replace the collar (which I thought the issue was), instead they adjusted it without testing properly.  Long, long story short, I got a partial refund and a new collar, just the part, which I fitted myself.  While doing so I noted the little pipe which feeds the Espesso guage was split and was shooting water all over the insides.  I removed the pipe and bunged up the hole with a cut-up part of an old group-head seal).  Machine works great now (didnt use the guage anyway).  Ill be formally complaining about the service centre, 3 months of stress resulting in me fixing it myself...still cost me $85 + petrol.....not good

Anyone know of a contact at sunbeam who will listen to my constructive feedback?
    Not good...

1: I would submit the complaint electronically via their WEB page..  And then call to advise them.

2: Where are you located ?   That way, others can be aware of the service being provided by your agent.

3: How / what did they adjust ?   None that I am aware of ....

4: I would be careful with a plugged pipe... At some stage it could let go and cause a real fault..

5: How old is the unit ?

Did you get pics and record all your communications and the outcomes..  I am sure that some on in Sunbeam would be interested..

Thus, in you e-mail mention Quality and Consumer complaints and that you would like to be contacted etc

Let us know how you go..

Like may cases... It was an agent and not SB directly... There in is a problem for many of us...

    All very strange.

Sunbeam have many repair agents but only a handful are trained and authorised to service the 6910s.
Indeed, but initially I was going by the list Sunbeam emailed me, I simply assumed they were all qualified. I now know better.

It was the service centre in Penant Hills...about an hours drive from me, but the closest agent.  I was wary of the bung but the espesso guage pipe just hangs off the main valve from the water tank to the thermoblock so the pressure is just going straight through rather than also moving the guage...I hope.  So far so good, its working really well, better than it has for a long time.  Its about 2.5 years old now.

Aparently the adjustment was to the collar, but after replacing it, I dont see any way to adjust it, it basically lives where it lives, end of story.  The reason they didnt replace the collar after odering it was they said sunbeam did not allow them to replace that part...so dodgy, I cant advise people enough to stear clear of that place.  They even gave me the wrong machine back initially (a 6910 - which was lovely, while I had it....)
So your actual machine is the EM6900...  If so that sort of explains the issue with the collar..

The Em6910 was grossly under molded and the collar was thin and was prone to splitting as well as stretching..

Units that failed during a certain time were either replaced and or upgraded with new parts and in some cases they got a EM6910...

So please explain... What was actually replaced / adjusted and by who ?

One might assume that the Agent may have contributed to the problem with the line to the gauge... But that could be  up for discussion..
What she told me was the collar had been adjusted, thats all. All the work is done by consultants who she pays by the hour. Until I actually opened the thing up to replace the collar, I didnt realise you cant adjust it. Like I said, I need to tell Sunbeam about this as I feel seriously ripped off. With regard to the line into the guage, I dont think Ill ever know for sure. It was only after I tested the new collar with the group handle in to pull a shot I noticed it was still dripping water. I then tried the same with the top cover off and immediately noticed the fractured line. Whether I did it or the tech did it, or it was like that for a while...I cant say, all I know is I was super careful when I was fiddling with it but you never can tell, its a pretty fragile line.
